Neuroaffirming OCD Course *

Your Neurotype Matters

If you are someone who identifies as neurodivergent, traditional models such as Exposure and Response Prevention therapy (ERP) and Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT) may not always be effective and can, in fact, cause harm when not adapted to your neurotype.

Emerging research highlights an important difference: individuals with sensory processing differences often do not habituate to anxiety the way neurotypical individuals do. Forcing repeated exposure without considering sensory needs or cognitive style can intensify anxiety rather than reduce it.

As an OCD therapist with nearly a decade of experience, I’ve seen the negative impact that unadapted, neurotypical treatment models can have on neurodivergent clients. That’s why I developed an adapted, neuroaffirming version of Inference-Based CBT. This approach respects neurodivergent ways of thinking and processing while still addressing the core cognitive distortions and inferential confusion that drive OCD.

The Course

This self-guided course will walk you through the Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT) treatment manual, along with specific adaptations tailored to your neurotype. It takes into account sensory differences and other traits related to your neurodivergence. The approach is non-pathologizing and helps you understand how certain features of your neurotype can actually contribute to the creation of OCD stories.

Comparison chart distinguishing self-soothing behaviors, which feel aligned with the self and are emotionally supportive or regulating, from OCD compulsions, which feel alien or intrusive and are driven by anxiety or obsessive doubts. Self-soothing behaviors are often sensory or expressive and not driven by fear, while OCD compulsions are used to prevent harm and are often accompanied by shame or exhaustion.
